Hey you guys are collaboratively great at answering all of my questions in my mission to restore this 78' XS400. Here's a tough one; I'm trying to replace the seat on my bike but I feel like the seat is from another bike and that the frame has been welded to fit the seat. My reasoning is that there are two hinges on the side of the seat and only one fits to the frame of the bike. Its identical to a small door hinge and the shape of the seat is unlike any I have seen on any 78'. Please help me out!

(Sorry about the quality of some of them)

Here is what my factory stock 79 2-F looks like should be very close to what you should have.

xschris,

In the last picture, Do both of your hinges attach to the frame or just the far right one? If you have a 2-f do I have a Xs400f?

Thanks again!

Two hinges connect to the frame and one latch to keep it down and also to lock it.

Last question on this thread.... Do you know if a 77' xs360 seat will fit my 78' XS400F?

The 77' xs360 seat is in the picture below

It my fit the frame but it wont fit with the tank it was used with a square tank bike. There may be some other issues that I am not aware of because I have never used one of those seats:shrug: If you get it for cheap it might be worth a try.
