I've been thinking about one of the hardtail kits discussed on here for my bike. The tubing I would need to make my own costs almost what the kit sells for and I would have to find someone to bend it. However, with the tank off of my bike for the first time I'm looking at the top tube , thinking it needs to be replaced with a single tube. It is a hassle fitting a smaller than stock tank down over the original top tube , isn't it? My question is... If I replace the top tube will the kit still fit up as designed? I'm not clear on exactly where the new tubes connect to the original upper frame.
