Well after all this polishing and cleaning I put the old girl back together. Also installed new rear susension and chain ajuster. Front end has been completely reconditioned. Tapered bearings, new fork oil, polished forks, stripped the black paint off the factory handle bars, polished all the triples and related bits, braided braked line, polished brake caliper and mount. Ive really been enjoying the whole process, im still loving this project! (I thought I would be sick of it by now, lol) Heres some pics how she was:

Excellent job. She just needs some love on the side covers and perhaps new mufflers. Do that and it'll look damn close to new.

Thanks bc! Yeah I got new mufflers thats the next thing to install they will make a huge difference. And once I put pod filters on it im gonna ditch the side covers altogether. Im just getting it roadworthy for now, and once it has a title ill start modding it out and putting all the bling on it.

looking good so far, why the front brake line on the rear?

instant MOT failure in UK as its not fixed down and to me looks dangerous. There should be P clips along the swing arm to secure.

Its a great feeling accomplishing things though and keep up the good work, another XS on the road :)

There are pictures! haha. Shining up nice and got those fiddley things done :wink2: That motor is just way too bright and shiney  Although I still think the small detail of painting black around alt. cover 'Yama' would look nice (don't even need to drain oil). Did it right the FIRST time!!! Nicely done

Thanks guys! Shes starting to come good now cant wait to get into putting on all the goodies ive been hording from ebay:laugh:

The braided lines are from, of course, ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BOBBER-M...rcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c65113fc6

If you want measurments they are: Rear brake line: 64.5cm & Front brake line: 95.5cm. I measured my old factory lines for those figures they may have been stretched a little over time so its possible they are slightly longer than stock. But better a little longer than too short when making a custom order. Obvously I have the lines now and those measurments worked out fine (you may want the front one shorter if you have clip ons). At just over $50 total for the pair they are a steal.

IMPORTANT: If anyone does make a braided barke line order, go with angle orientation C for the front line. Will just make it so you dont have to twist the line when fitting. I didnt get that angle orientation because you dont realise it would be preferable until you go to put it on, if I knew I would have ordered it with that angle orientation. I still got it on ok so all good!

@ Drewpy, glad you liked the rear brake line, lol. Actually we just jiggered that up after we rebuilt the engine just so we could go for a spin and have some sort of brake. The rear line was all clogged and useless, so we just used the front one which was still working (do you like the green cable tie holding it on to the bike?)got us on the road for a spin anyway:bike: Oh yeah got the p clips on order too!

@ Dark, yeah I could still paint that logo on the side covers ill see how everything looks after I put all the bit and peices on it.

Havent got the front brake working yet Fubar but once I put some fluid in it and get em going ill let you know how they are, im glad I got them theyre pretty good so far.

Hey thanks guys, but now these are so new and shiney it makes all the bad stuff look even worse  Oh well lucky im planning on doing everything anyway. The mufflers are Arion Pacific pork chop, they do look similar to the emgos. Who knows they probably come out of the same factory, although the seller claims these are better quality than the other 'inferior' offerings on ebay.

Ok after getting that damn rear caliper off I polished it up and installed my new rear braided line. Also thought I might put up some photos of my rear brake set up. I lost the old MC and replaced it with a nism one off a dirt bike, it works great.

It JUST fits in there, I actually had to shave the top of the bajo bolt so it would sit under the frame. Its a tight squeeze but ended up being a perfect fit. Stripped most of the paint off the front wheel because I want to get them vapoured like pork chop did. So now I can get more of an idea what it will look like with bare metal wheels.

Thanks for the tip on the break lines. And their offices are a short drive from me so I don't have to ship! Save where I can I guess..

Hi shamus no worries at all! Yeah I forgot to mention they are from canada and I know a lot of you guys are in canada so be cheaper for you there. Also each line comes with 2 new banjo bolts and 4 copper crush washers which is nice.

Oh yeah if anyone is wondering I added 5cm to my rear line because im not running the stock MC and had to go over the MC reservoir, but the measurments I mentioned before are measured from the stock lines with nothing added. So you can work out from there what you need depending on your set up.
