What did you do with your XS today?

Maybe I wasn't clear before. I've changed the turn signals into marker lights and turn signals. They come on at low intensity when the ignition is turned on, and flash brightly as turn signals. I have not connected then to the brake light.

My intention is to make the bike more visible at night, not to confuse other motorists. I hope I have succeeded...

Dave

well you confused us, hope other motorists are not as confused

Geeez, I am sorry I brought this up now. I fully agree with your intention of visibility, especially with the drivers we have to deal with in our area. The issue is that the only colour you can show to the rear other than a turn signal when it is flashing is red. I don't believe a steady orange or amber light is permitted. As I said before I doubt that anyone will bother you unless they are looking for an excuse to stop you anyway so I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

... Technically with the amber lenses on the rear it isn't legal. And finding red lenses to fit the lights has proven hard to do. Leo
Hey Leo. If you would like the lights to glow red, try a teacher's supply or a craft store. Get a bottle of red "bottle paint" and try turning amber into red - but test it on the bottom or inboard side only first in case it turns pink or too opaque. It's meant to give a clear glass bottle a transparent colour.
It would work for sure on a clear or transparent white lens if those were available to you.

In the US red is ok for turn signals. Many cars come with that scheme as standard. It is much less common on motorcycles from the factory.

I redid my gas tank cause my buffing pad screwed it up:mad:.It ended up gouging the clear coat.I also wet sanded it with 1500 grit paper.Looks better than it did the first time.

yesterday i built a license plate mount and tail light mount and worked on my rear fender mount. Just gotta do battery box and then shes ready for paint and carb rebuild :)

I reset (and damaged) my Spedo
