    Xs1100 troubles

so I know this isn't xs11.com but I've had a lot better input on here so I'm hoping for some luck. I bought this bike (79' xs1100 standard) and the guy I got it off really was doing some weird stuff with the wiring , I know it turns over and runs just fine by jumping it from the solenoid. I...

    Xs1100 actually

I'm posting in here for my xs11 for this is where I've gotten the most help. Anyhow, I picked up a 79 xs11 a while back, it's missing the keys and I've been trying to Hotwire it (I have the ownership papers just haven't spent the money on a new key or ignition yet) , but I'm pretty dumb when it...

    Brake line diameter?

Sorry about the improper wording, I meant hose by line and cable, I would be buying a length of stainless steel brake hose, there were two inside diameters to choose from and I meant I didnt want to chop the brake hose off that im currently using to get the inside diameter with a caliper, I have...

    Brake line diameter?

Does anyone know if theres a standard for brake line inside diameters with Yamaha? I need to buy a length of the cable but theres two diameters to choose from and I was hoping to not have to chop my brake line while I wait for the parts to come in for it since its not detrimental. I tried to...

    Backwards Rear Shocks?

Okay so I went ahead and moved the shocks, I left them on the outside and just drilled out the hole to fit a 3/8th bolt, nice and heavy duty. It rose the bike up a lot higher than I expected , when I measured it eye to eye, I found that the shocks were about 13 inches, and at the height the...

    Backwards Rear Shocks?

Thanks again for the input, I'm going to give it a shot I'm thinking, I'll post pictures when I'm finished with it, not sure when I'll get around to it, hopefully get a bit more input from folks on here before I move ahead with it.

    Backwards Rear Shocks?

Thanks Liam, I didnt see your other post before I had responded last thats helpful, anyhow Im looking at the mounting tabs and I see that on XS400J Maxim frame there is already something that looks similar, I will attatch pictures, now it's definitely not the same and im sure its probably not...

    Backwards Rear Shocks?

Right and convert it back to the original you guys are saying, that'd be worth a shot I see now that the original swing arm was chopped to fit the dual shocks and theres some rigged up looking shit on it. I think I might try to convert it to a more regular looking dual shock, with shorter...

    Backwards Rear Shocks?

I'm honestly unsure of what this even does that would be detrimental to the handling, but I know it just doesnt really feel right, it looks like theres mounts for where they should be but I think the previous owner wanted this to be lower and had it that way, which I like , the guy seemed like...

    Backwards Rear Shocks?

Haha sounds good boys, local mechanic got a good laugh out of it, personally ive never seen anything like this, the previous owner must have made the mounting holes himself and everything, post back in a few minutes. Also, Campbell River mainly, spend some time in Victoria as well.

    Backwards Rear Shocks?

I have an 82 XS400J Maxim, it was converted to regular suspension from the single shock but I guess the guy who had it before me somehow put the rear shocks with an angle facing away from the head of the bike rather than towards it, it feels kind of off and I'm not sure how to go abouts this...

that there master cylinder and doin a thang

Unreal, thats one nasty looking assembly, and I thought mine was bad, good to hear your perseverance panned out for you in the end, I had mine going that route as well, I pumped it for the better part of the day trying to reverse bleed , regular bleed, shake the bubbles out anything, nothing...

    Steering Head Issue?

Hopefully someone may have had experience with this in the past, I had picked up an XS400 last summer, and Ive been fixing it slowly throughout the year and I've now come to this as it's pretty well all in working condition , those issues that have not been fixed have parts in the mail...

that there master cylinder and doin a thang

Well shit, I should have checked on here before I went to my bike mechanic today, I got him to order me a rebuild kit feeling a bit pressured, oh well though, maybe the next time this comes up I will just buy a whole new set up like you said, just checked ebay and theres pretty well the exact...

that there master cylinder and doin a thang

So I've come to the issue that my master cylinder will not create any pressure? I do not have a clue what could be going on but even if I remove the hose it doesnt spill any liquid out of the master cylinder, not sure what to do here! Also if I squeeze the brake lever a plume of silvery looking...
