82 Seca chop

haha yeah the £400 included buying it, got it for £270 running with all paperwork :) it's the licence and the insurance that will be the killer! Gonna see if some friends wanna chip in for renting a workshop, trying to do all this in the garden is such a ball ache!

A shop space would be nice. im trying to build my bike in a 2 brm apt.

Should be 54mm, but your best bet is to measure the flange on your carb inlet to be sure. And take a look at the rubber mount on the filters to ensure that they won't obstruct the jets and air passages on the carb inlets. Some will, some won't...

I just so happen to have two for sale. 54mm. I bought a 4-pack because it was a better deal than the 2-pack. Not really sure why though, I dont need 4 of them only 2

Cheers! Air filters are on their way :-D
Finally got some 40mm square tube from college, fit in as snug as a bug!
Dropped her off the stand then realised the previous owner removed the kick stand when they put the 2into1 exhaust on :-( took some right messing about to get it back up on the centre stand now its lowered!
Very chuffed with the new stance though.

yeah i'm keeping my eye out for a pair of pipes, i need the downpipes and the lot as these are fucked, gonna start fabbing a battery box next and try and figure out a seat/tank combo to fit. really tempted to build my own tank but don't know if my TIG is at a good enough level yet.

here's a quick update, was too cold to spend long outside.
got air filters on and chopped up a cafe racer seat, think it works well as a chopper seat.

Our roads are terrible, and the road tax isn't cheap. I'm planning on mounting it with springs but I want to cut some triangular fillets for the underside of the seat to hide them

It's been snowing like fuck in Sheffield recently so finally had some weather to go out and do some more work, removed all the headlight and speedo shite, only to find the worst mess of wiring!
HELPPPPP!!!!!!!

I just did all of my wiring on a dohc. what do you have questions with?

I don't even know where to begin! I want to remove everything except what I need to run and front/back lights, guess I'll start it up then start unplugging stuff and plugging stuff back in to see what they do.

Heavymetal,
Thanks for the posts, building a dohc cafe racer and the gs tank is the look I'm after, just ordered one on ebay. Good luck with the build

Yeah it didn't take much to get a good fit, just shave a bit off the lugs on the frame or on the tank and new holes for the bolts. I've had to scrap it for my bike as it was too long for me once it was hardtailed, it left no room for a seat! Let us see what you come up with Docwits!

The wiring is pretty easy, especially with the wiring diagram, available on this site. Just make sure you're looking at the 83 Seca wiring diagram (which is exact, except for a small difference in the ignition wiring - the diagram shows 4 wires instead of our 3.)

Thanks bentwrench, I've been looking through them on here but not sure which is the exact right one, would you be able to point me in the right direction?
Also the bike has had 14 previous owners and looks like a few of them have had attempts at wiring before so I have to work out their modifications too. I think I'm going to strip it back to the bare minimum to start and run without lights or anything and then add extras to the circuit myself.
Got a multimeter today anyway that makes life a lot easier!
