I was inspecting my carbs and I saw that the rubber diagrams have basically shrunk down to a paper thin level and sealed to my carb. This is most likely due to old age (36 yr old bike) My questions is is that a cause for concern?

Should I ever bother fixing it? Do you guys have any experience diaphragms like that? There is no way to removed them off my carb without destroying them. So I'm hoping to get by the rest of the riding season without changing them.
Any advice?

Sounds like your trying to much. If you get your bike over 4 gear, and any decent speed, that is the zone that needs the diaphragm. If you have it working, good job. alot of us, bought some viton type aircraft diaphragm. For extra security that site sells the carb boots to head.

There is alot of information, slowdown and read what it says. I also skip ahead by doing a "search on this page, XS400" Also search our web, for the "jbmindustries"
