I got a new clutch cable last year, and having ridden a fair amount so far this year I've noticed the friction zone being at the very end of the levers throw (furtherest distance from the hand grip).

I am going to adjust the clutch this weekend like I have in the past, but just wanted to see if there was a trick to having the clutch engage and disengage mid-throw. The controls are all stock if that makes a difference.

With the adjustments I know you loosen the hand control - which I interpret as screw it in as far as it will go so as to slacken the cable.
Then you pop out the rubber cap, break the lock nut and adjust the screw by turning it in to take up the cable slack.
Lock the nut back up.
Go to the hand control and extend the screws so that the cable becomes taught.

Is that accurate? Are there any tricks of the trade that will allow me to adjust where the clutch engages while keeping controls tight?
