Starter Button M.I.A.

Just picked up my first motorcycle, a '78 xs400E last night. The previous owner said the starter button flew off one day and he had since been pushing one of those wooden skewers into the hole where the button should be to start it.

Can I just swap out the horn button to use as the start button?

Yes, but only the button and spring will switch over. The whole push assembly is left and right oriented.

yea i was just going to pop it off or maybe see if my roommates CB550 horn button will work since his horn is busted

Yea, they charged me 10 buchs for shipping and handling, but I have a starter button now. (17.04 total)

yea that cost prevented me from buying it myself.

settled for a cut down wooden skewer...

The problem I had when the button popped off, was that rain would get in, and activate the switch. I eventually unplugged that feature till I got the button.
The first time was a powerful Drencher of a downpour! My last two blocks was on all the way home. Goodluck

just open the starter button control case and put the button in?
