So I have started working on my Heritage Special that i picked up a couple months ago.... the cylinders were rusted seized so i bought a good set of cylinders and piston from ebay that were within spec along with new rings and reassembled the top end after disassembling and sandblasting the head...

Are 1980 xs 400 cylinder and pistons compatible to put on my 1981 xs 400 heritage special? The mounting holes on the cylinder all look the same but has any one ever tried this? Will the diameters and oil ports still match up?
