Team,
I'm moved this discussion over from the Intro section:

I'm still debating if I should build this bike or my CB350 into a track bike. First step is to clean both up enough to assess the condition of the engines and go from there...
Totally jumping the gun here guys but anywhere heres where im at
The Back Story
my dad bought a 1980 XS400 SG for $100 like 5 years ago, ran fine all that good stuff, just didnt have a title (long story not worth typing, the bike isnt stolen lol) they're just harley guys and it was...
well guy's gotta say I love this site ! It got motivated to chop my bike . I have an 78 xs 400 bobber that I lowered and did some custom stuff to it but didn't chop it. So now I'm working on a 80 xs 400 and I'm going hardtail this time. I've stretched it out 9 inches so far because I'm a fairly...
Hey everyone, I picked up a '77 cafe project for pretty cheap about a week ago. I felt like I was taking a big risk buying a bike that doesn't run, but I'm in no rush to get it on the road and thought it would be fun to tinker with over the summer. It's my first bike so I'm in for a bunch of...
I noticed tonight that my Canadian '82 Maxim has a German spec TCI module. "Type TID12-07" as compared to the US module, "Type TID12-08". This initially surprised me, but thinking about it I realized that Canadian emissions regulations back them were much less restrictive that the US standards...
First off, hi. I'm new to riding motorcycles. I've been a passenger for many years, but last month I finally went out and got my license! Sorry if my questions seem uneducated, but I've got a lot to learn.
I'm looking at buying my first bike and I'm excited about the XS400.
There is a guy...
I just installed a new speedometer and tachometer. Everything works except the neutral light and oil pressure light.
The new units appear to be all LEDs. I re-used to the stock harness/pigtail; I grafted it on to the new clocks and everything is wired exactly as the oem gauges were. Everything...
Now I kind of wish it was a Seca, cuz I live on US 101 and it raps out pretty good at 60MPH. Was thinking of going a tooth bigger in front to knock down the RPMs. Seems plenty quick enough off the line for it. Any thoughts or suggestions?
This showed up on my facebook feed through one of the cafe racer pages I follow

I love the paint idea, fake rust! It looks like it sits pretty low too, great for the vertically challenged riders lol.
I think I'm...
Borat Thung earthlings!
Been reading this forum for a while now since I picked up a 82 DOHC Seca from ebay as my first bike.
It looks disgusting at the moment but it was cheap and starts and runs after a bit of work.
I put a new petrol tank on from a Suzuki GS550 which fit almost perfectly...
The gaiters I purchased and installed less than a year ago have already split into 2 pieces around center. I purchased them on ebay from a now forgotten vendor. I guess sometimes you really do get what you pay for.
Any recommendations on where to purchase quality gaiters that might last more...
its and xs 250 frame with a gixer 400 front end , gixxer 400 tank custom seat , gsxr400 rear wheel and swing arm and the mono shock conversion is in process what does everyone think
I've just spent the entire weekend working on my XS400 cafe racer project and even though this is one of many bike rebuilds/builds/restorations, it always wipes me out. We all have seen those cable shows where these people grab all the parts off the shelves, cut this, weld that, and within sixty...
I've been lurking fora bit and thought I say "Thank you!" for all of the help so far, and start a build thread for my current project. Bought and fixed up a '96 Katana on '07 but it has been broken for a couple of years now :( (broke down shortly after I met my wife, and Finishing up college...
basically the story is i bought a lovely little XS250 soft tail bobber of the good ol' site of chance ebay and it ran perfect for around 3 weeks untill the lights would flicker and die , eventually i found it to be a dodgy scotch clip fuse holder the previous Owner fitted ( claimed he had a...
One of the front turn signals has been driving me nuts by being droopy. I am also not exactly excited with their looks. So, I picked up a couple of Biker's Choice amber bullet turn signals on Amazon. They are part # 490171. I already had a Biker's Choice headlight because the stock light was...
