Another new guy. Looking for a new project, think of a board track racer hooking up with a bobber Simplex and their baby is what I have envisioned in my mind. Below is the parts so far: A motor/trans, a headlight and some 21" wheels. Best part is that motor and the VIN on the neck are currently registered and clean!!!. I will also show a pic of the truck I just sold, I finished it last December.

I look forward to learning from all of you-

Thanks Drewpy and HoughMade, HAHAHA yeah that is a pretty blank canvas, will start making a frame this weekend and planning on using some old harley tanks; maybe stretched and narrowed to go on either side of the toptube. Also have an old Triumph rear fender with the ducktail. The fun starts this weekend.

Thanks Volcom, the truck was sweet, but I hit a place on it where the only thing left was a big motor (402) and a 700r4. Never would have got the money out of her. So I enjoyed her for a while and moved her. I hope to have the bike done by August then start a gasser project. This bike will be fun for sure, and with the help of all you guys it wll be better than I imagined mechanically.

First a disclaimer: Members of the cut up a steak not a xs400 club may not want to look at the following pictures.

While I am waiting for time on a tube bender and the fact that I don't sleep; I thought I would play with my cases. Then I played with finishes; from a 320 wet sand finish which gives the aluminum a kind off milled look to full polish like a mirror. I chose a wet 1000 finish. Once I decided on that I looked at the chain cover and decided to help it out a little. With all the "speed holes" I put in it I think the bike will just fly!!!

Thanks Volcom, but no precision...just a hand drill and a step bit. Drew some lines on with a right angle and went to town, about half a cup of non compacted aluminum so maybe half a pound. HAHAHA - so with that power to weight savings this bike will scream!!!

Do you guys think these cases have a strong enough casing to be tumbled. I know there was a lot of aluminum casting in the 80's that was brittle.

nice speed holes :) my sprocket cover is a mutant as well...hell my whole bike is a mutant, love the split tank idea, I vote you make all your body work pieces then mock your frame to compliment them....run the backbone at the same bend as the silouette as the tank ect ect... BITCHIN, cant wait to see some progress...
