    1976 XS360 Scrambler Build

I think it's about time for me to start a dang build thread. I have a 76" XS 360-2d. I bought it for $40 off Craigslist about a year ago. The bike had sat in this persons drive way for 5 years without a cover or tarp or anything, to add to that apparently they found it in San Fransisco in an...

    New monoshock

Hello, I have a 76' xs360 that I am making into a scrambler/dual sport machine. I have a swing arm from a 93' KX250 and the stock shock that came with it is about 18" long and that just doesn't fit... at all. So I need a shock that's about 15" or 380mm or something around that size, does anyone...

    2-1 carb set up

So I was thinking about going 2-1 with my xs360 because I want a simpler setup that's easier, just the usual. And I know that doing this will cause the left cylinder to run lean. Anyways, what if I make the left exhaust pipe more restrictive causing it to run richer? Would that work?

    CB350 for $250

Does anyone here think that a 1970 cb350 for 250 is a good investment? I found it on Craigslist and it is complete, has compression, and apparently the carbs are "really clean". It does look like it sat outside for a few months though. Anyways does anyone think it's a good deal?

    Forks leaking oil

I rebuilt my forks and put new seals in, after doing all of that when I was putting the bolt that goes in at the very bottom that holds everything together (don't know what to call it) I thought it was tight but when I put oil in the fork leaks. I then realized that wherever the bolt is bolting...

    errrrrr Newbie question......

I thought that the rectifier not only converts the currents but also regulates the voltage... I guess this is wrong because there is a voltage regulator. Also if I bought a regulator/rectifier from shmeebay then would I not need the regulator? :wtf:

How can I put a front brake switch on my bike if it has drum brakes and aftermarket levers?  Thanks, Nick

    Battery Draining?

Will the battery drain if I leave power running to the rectifier?

    Burnin' fuses

I just got my xs360 running well and I was just letting it idle and it shut off randomly. I thought I killed the battery (from excessive idling) but it turns out that one of the fuses was blown. I also found out the previous owner had bypassed two of the fuses... So is something not grounded...

    Really stiff clutch

I can squeeze the clutch lever but I need to use 1 1/2 hands. I have a new cable and new levers (slightly shorter, so less leverage?). I took the right side cover off and removed the clutch plates to see if any were stuck together, none were. So what could be causing this? Are the softer springs...

    Dies in gear

So I got it running and when it's up on its stand (rear wheel of ground) when I put it in gear it dies. What switch is causing this and how can I bypass it? Or what should I do?:bike::thumbsup:

    Running on one cylinder

So I bet this has been answered many times but I can seem to find the right answer. Any-hoo it's only running on one cylinder, it runs very well on that one cylinder, and starts in 3-4 kicks without choke..... anyway the non-running cylinder sometimes runs for a few seconds, then stops and...

    Stripped spark plug hole

Well the tittle pretty much says it all. I somehow managed to strip the spark plug hole. It there anything I can do or do I have to but new cylinders. It's not completely stripped, it stays in okay but I'm worried with a lot of use it could biff it up. Thanks, Nick

    Front drum brakes

So, I have a Xs360 (Haven't found out what year) but the front drum pads fell of the shoes. I don't want to but new ones so I was thinking/wondering if there is a strong enough adhesive that could glue 'em together? And I am guessing that gluing them together would be like this:bike: and then go...

    Most extreamly simplified wiring

I have the wiring loom for my xs360 and I took it out not labeling anything, but I think I could make it work. Anyways (this has probably been answered before), I was wondering what is the most simple basic wiring that could be done just to make it run? No lights or this or that, just to make it...

    Run without battery?

Is it possible to change out the alternator on an xs360 with something else that allows the bike to run without a battery? Also, if the battery is dead, then is it impossible to start the bike? Oh and would the Banshee pma mod work on the xs360? Thanks, Nick
